    Just thought I'd share

Got my wapi from stamps222 today! I'd been practicing the feel of the hone with a cheap double arrow, and started soaking my stone as soon as I got home. I went against the wisdom of the forum and went straight for the hone and non-shave-ready razor, praying that I would be lucky enough to get a result good enough for shaving. Definitely not the best idea, but I wanted to try.

So I started with a typical pyramid, then did 15 strokes on each side, then another pyramid. Dropped arm hairs like they're hot. I didn't even try the HHT b/c I figured it'd have no chance, and I was really excited to go try a shave anyway hehehe. Stropped 25 times and placed it at the ready.

Took a shower, whipped up some cream (dollop of cream AFTER soap-loading the brush as suggested by mantic for super lather), and man I love making that stuff. I'm gonna have more creams and soaps than my gf lol.

Anyway, my first ever str8 shave was a dream come true... no doubt it could have been sharper by a real honemeister, but this shaved really well without irritation, pulling, or anything! I can't tell you how excited I was! Came very close to slicing myself a few times, especially while trying to use my left (non-dominant) hand, but I did my whole face/neck/chin and everything went smooooothly. I'm stoked! Just waitin for some scruff to grow back so I can do it again.

Thanks to everyone here for guidance I can't help but recommend the wapi, at least as a learning razor. It did a fine job. Shoot this is bad - I'm going to have wicked RAD now.
