    Default When one rushes.....

    They tend to cut corners.

Or cheeks in my case !

Not paying attention, letting the mind wander a bit and running a tad behind this AM gave me a nice slice in my right cheek. Actually, slice is an understatement- it's about a 2 inch stripe now that bled like a stuck-pig when I did it! I've had a number of questions from co-workers as you can imagine.

Yet again, srt8 razor shaving serves to illustrate lessons in life in general. Slow is fast.....

I noted in another newbie thread - the one piece of advice I can offer any newbie is that the moment you feel comfortable with the blade, take a moment and respect it anew - one small slip and you're sporting a strip...just don't ask me how I know!

I find it best to pass off all shaving related injuries as just more fight related injuries... Then again, I end up passing off fight related injuries as shaving injuries when applicable, on days that I substitute, depending on the class I'm with.

Yeah, if you're going to rush, might as well throw a box o' bandaids down on the counter, along with the Thayer's Supermedicated and Neosporin!

I had a WONDERFUL shave yesterday with my Dovo Prima Klang that Josh Earl honed for me, after an extra-long stropping session. Funny how that works.

I do think I'm getting much better. Paying more attention to stropping long and slowly and just taking it easy...shaving that way, too.

If you're in a hurry, you might as well just skip the shave or use a double-edged or disposable, because using a straight in a hurry is a recipe for a MAJOR blood-letting!

I have been blaming it on my wife..... after she started to add up what I have spent in the last month ot so....

Big mean woman that keeps me out of trouble!

Strange thing about this cut was I was holding the razor in my left hand while attempting to shave WTG to touch up my right cheek. I never do that..... well I won't be guilty of doing again anyway! I will use an opposing hand to make a pass ATG from the the jaw line (an up-stroke) if I'm trying to get really close.

This was just a total brain-fart. Then again, pain is a wonderfully effective learning tool.

That sounds about right. I did the same thing, but I traded a big slice for a dozen or so little gushers. I guess you end up learning one way or another.

I think one of the reasons so many of us
shave at night as was illustrated in a recent post.
That much more time to concentrate and
    not be rushed.

I must have missed that post, but I was just thinking about the same thing. It makes sense to make sure you are doing this when you have time to relax and concentrate. At least when you are just starting out.

Hopefully that wasn't with your 'new' modified spike-point JA Henkels.
