I strop only before shaving and honing. I strop
before honing simply to clean the bevel and
align the edge slightly.

Get the microscopes out! Shaving forces the edge slightly out of alignment. Steel has a memory and it will straighten up to a degree given a bit of time. For a thin razor edge the very edge of the razor will re-align itself somewhat in about 48 hours. Now stropping after a shave my not seem like it's doing much but run your hand over the strop after using it and see if you don't feel minuscule particles. I personally strop before each shave and I rarely have to hone those razors in my rotation. I keep my razors in a mug on the sink vanity. I rinse my blades in hot water, towel them off and then leave them mostly open, that is blade not touching the scales, to dry for the day. I use Dovo Sterol oil from time to time on the pivot areas. I have no rust on my razors. When I hone or restore razors I use Tuf-Glide as protection agent. Mineral oil or 3-1 oil are just fine too.

Right on Randy, I do the same except I blow dry my hair so I hit the razor and the brush on low heat to get all the moisture out before the oil.

IMHO I would not use 3-1 oil, it will protect the razor for sure but it is hard to get it all off that is the way it is designed which is great for protection butI am not sure it is so great for your face big deal probably not but with other great choices that actually are lubericating for your face why take the chance.

I am in the camp that endorses stropping after use but can't say I am as diligent every time. I do wipe the razors with alcohol and let them dry every time
