    Default Frustrated!

I'll admit I do have a hard, fast growing beard. This is my first brand new straight. I can not get this thing sharp. It was at least cutting the hair for the most part, but a lot of pulling. Last night I soaked my Norton in water and then did the pyramid. Whipped up my lather in the bowl, it didn't even give me a bad shave, it was like no shave.

Is there anyone in the Mid Tennessee area that I could pay to hone this thing for me so I wouldn't be without for so long due to postal service?

I live in Lebanon, TN, but my office is in Nashville. I actually have it at the office with me now. Thank you for the reply.

I've read that and realize those great people with great honing skills are available to me. I just thought that if someone was more local I could get it done faster without relying on USPS. I only have one razor in my arsenal at the moment, so I was throwing this out just in case so maybe the turn around time would be lessened. If no one local was available, I would have by all means contacted one of the above experts and been happy to pay their quoted price.

    I live in Hendersonville.
I work on the North edge of downtown. Where is your office? I'd be happy to work on the razor, but might prefer to give you some instruction, the old "teach a man to fish" idea.
You didn't mention any hone other than the Norton. Did you finish the razor on a coticle or pasted paddle followed by a hanging strop?
Also, what brand of razor do you have?

Well, there's the problem right there!! ;-) LOL You should just by one of the "shave ready" razors in the B/S/T section, wait till that comes in, and then send yours out!! You know you want to!!

I know I sure do!! I would need a second job to even begin to purchase what I'd like to - and that's only out of what I've already seen, and I've only been here a week!!!

Good luck though, hopefully Hawkeye5 will be able to help you out.

My office is right there at Lebanon Rd and Spence Lane, we're not too far away. I contacted a guy that was selling razors on e-bay a coupla weeks ago and had his number saved on my Blackberry. Blackberry crashed and I can't remember his name, user name or phone number. I just remember he too lived in Hendersonville.

Right now my razor is: Don't know the name brand, bought it at the Cutting Edge in Opry Mills. Blade says Solingen Made in Germany.

Bought my strop at the same place, but not pasted.

    Also have a Norton 4/8

    Bob Keyes, aka altima55.
He lives about 10 blocks from me and I've been to his house and shop. Nice guy and is very willing to talk straight razors with anyone that has an interest. I have his phone number at home, I can send you a PM later this evening, or you more than likely can find the number now that you know his name. If you have access to ebay at work (I don't) you could send a message through ebay. He always has a few razors for sale.
