Default Straight edge vs bench vise, DOH!

Got a Taylor Eye Witness 1000 off ebay that arrived yesterday. Cleaned and honed it up last night and all was set to go for a much anticipated first shave. First thing this morning I went to strop this new prize. Going from the workbench to strop, I clunked the razor edge right into the big old metal vise. Guess which won? How on earth could one person be so stupid? The good news was that the damage was not major. It took about 20 minutes to hone out the dent in the edge (after a cup of coffee). I think I cursed myself after every honing stroke. The best news is that it ended up being a sweet shave.

So, just in case anyone was wondering about this one, I can now definitively say that in a collision between a bench vise and a straight, the bench vise wins!

This site has some miraculous properties. Who knew? I have maybe 15 posts at SRP and already you've turned me into a straight man.
