I don't know what you paid in ireland, but in the States, a Parker latigo strop goes for $70-80. It is certainly not a cheap strop, but you can spend several times that amount for a premium strop. I purchased a Parker as my first strop as well; I still use it, even though I have other strops as well.

I would not worry about the small dents in the strop, especially since this is your first strop. Unless you are exceptionally well coordinated, it is quite likely that you will end up with some nicks in the leather before you refine your stropping technique. Fortunately, you can sand out most minor nicks with some fine grade sandpaper. I have personal experience in that area. You might want to learn to strop using a dull razor or knife so there will be less chance of nicking your new strop.

We tend to get ripped off with everything when it comes to prices. Lol. It worked out around $104 conversion. It's decent strop. Nice and smooth. Thicker than I expected also but then what is decent. It's my first one so I can't compare it to anything else.

The internet is fine but this conversation is an example of why I still support my local brick and mortar store if I can.

Looks like a nice strop. Like the others said it won't effect your stropping. They may raise up on there own a bit. Do some practicing on the suede side to get the hang of it. My first strop looks pretty bad. I look at it now and laugh. Good luck.

There are not all that many brick and mortar stores that sell shaving goods, at least not the good stuff. The only one anywhere close to me is Smallflower/Q Brothers/Merz Apothecary in downtown Chicago, 45 miles away. I only go into the city when absolutely necessary, so even when I order from them, it will be over the Internet. I have purchased from quite a few brick and mortar stores: TSS, SRP, Maggard, WCS, WSP, Griffith Shaving, and directly from artisan soap vendors, but orders are placed over the Internet and delivered a few days later. I did visit SRP in person one time when I was traveling through Ohio, but I had less than an hour to browse; I could have spent all day in there.

Sounds to me like its time to open a shave shop and save yourself the drive.

    Hello there,
Who did you buy it from if you don't mind me asking. I have the same strop and like it very much. It was £75 delivered, from Executive Shaving. Who I highly recommend. Good for strops, creams and brushes.
