Default Got my first cuts out of the way!

Went from paranoid to cocky after only 1 shave.

Got too comfortable, and the speedy shaver in me came out.

Started going over spots to clean up without lather. Well that's one way to see what happens lol.

slow down you have a 100 or so shaves ahead of you to really get comfortable,, plus we already know the edge on your razor may be suspect,,, try just doing your cheeks for a week or 2 and get really good at that before taking on another section "ONE" at a time then put them all together when your really good at it, with a shave ready razor,,, practice the stropping its really the most important part,, finish with your regular razor Tc

I have two spots, one on each side of my adam's apple that I'll do light buffing strokes without lather BUT that will depend on the soap I'm using. I'll do it if the soap has good residual slickness, if not I'll re-lather. Check out Obies first tier soap thread for good descriptions of soap qualities.

Nothing brings on nicks and blood moreso than cockiness and speed. It's a bad combo from my experience. And, this is even after the 100 shaves.

    Yep

After my 2 whole shaves, I feel that I have enough knowledge to agree with that statement.

Cuts happen. At least you know now it isn't all that bad and nothing like you have seen on TV or read about in fiction.
My first cut actually relaxed me a lot.

That's kind of how I felt.

It was like, okay now that's out of the way.

It was weird too, because it was 2 almost perfectly symmetrical cuts. One on each corner of my chin. Almost perfectly symmetrical, right down to the length of the cuts. About a half inch.

But yeah, even though I got them from being stupid, I was almost glad to just get them out of the way.

That's what I keep telling myself. I've got everything above the jawline without any real trouble. I need to just get some muscle memory built up on that and get used to the awkwardness of holding the razor..

You must not be shaving your chin/mustache area I presume? If so, you are taking to the straight razor freakishly fast. If not, try shaving those areas and see how you fare. The "fool's pass" and chin really up the challenge of straight razor shaving. If I wasn't shaving those areas of my face, I would probably be more than little bored by now.

I think if I slow down, and stop trying to be the bull in the china shop things will be fine.

Time will tell, but I think I am going to be addicted to this.
