Does the plug help keep the scuttle water hotter? I use something similar to the following https://www.etsy.com/listing/2803311...=sr_gallery_11 but the water gets lukewarm pretty quickly. I usually refill it after my first pass (the bottom portion), relather, and then repeat after my XTG pass.

I want to believe it does.

My G-20 holds up for whole shave with 140F tap water.

When I want HOT, it's easy to put on a tea kettle, that'sa Hot'a wat'a. Careful though.

Have you tried pre warming it? Fill the top and bottom with hot water for a few minutes, tip out and refil the bottom?
Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

I got a G12 last winter. It keeps the lather warm through the entire shave using the method described by edhewitt. The only complaint I have is the bowl is a bit too small in diameter for easy lathering.

As for the plug, it does help prevent heat loss from the water, it also prevents water spillage while lathering.

Overall, I would rate it as a very good scuttle; it would be an excellent scuttle if the bowl was a bit larger.

Black brush is shave nation badger brush, wood brush is a semogue boar brush.

Warm lather for all three passes and scuttle builds a great lather as well.

Sorry for delay, I was in charge of a major event in my city for the police department.

Wow very nice. I also like the scuttles from dirtybird pottery. Really like that plug they included with it!
