    Hi All,

I've actually just introduced myself with a thread in the strop section but thought I'd do so here too.

I'd first tried straight razor shaving a few years ago, but abandoned it after turning myself into Freddie from Nightmare on Elmstreet. I re-discovered the razor recently and now I have a bit more time on my hands I decided to try again and persevere. This was about a year ago and I've been using straights daily since. I'm finally getting much more comfortable with the process and only occasionally nick myself, and the safety razors are now relegated to a drawer.

The whole theme has now become quite a hobby and I've built up a collection of razors, mostly purchased as used ones which have required some maintenance. This required sharpening stones, so I set about that skill too and whilst of course I have a long way to go, I'm able to do a reasonable job of honing to remove dings etc. I find that the razors all have their own characteristics and part of the pleasure is choosing one in the morning.

I've become a great fan of Proraso products, though their shave cream has been beaten into 2nd place by Taylor of Old Bond Street's Peppermint cream - the best lather I've discovered yet - quite expensive but a little goes a very long way.

Like many I've watched the forums from a distance before registering, and the information has really helped me along the way.

    Many thanks,

    amdyh

    Welcome to SRP!
I love the TOBS peppermint as well, but as I found out a few days ago, don't ever get it up your nose - it will bring you to tears.

Welcome, I prefer my TOBS over my porasso. I won some Baum.Be in February and been using that exclusively since.

Sounds interesting - Baum.be seems to be very much liked but difficult to obtain. I'll give it a go!
