    Hi I'm Jim,
Been a Master since 1965. Been so long since I used a straight razor I forgot what they looked like. Son recently decided he wanted to start shaving with a straight razor so I dug out an old Double Duck and sent it and the maintenance supply. Next time I see him I'll find out how that's working out.

Yea, He must be a glutton for the punishment. I retired Air Force 20+ years and haven't shaved anything but my neck since. He retired Navy last Year and looks like he if going to follow the shaving tradition. Says the safety razor doesn't give him the detail he wants. So he's going to try the Stright razor the I got from my master barber dad who got it from his Master Barber father-in-law. By the way it still looked new. Which I had taken pics but I don't think that far ahead.

Did you tell him to come hear for guidance, or school of hard knocks like myself.
I started using a straight, when there was no info on the net, let alone had the net.

Welcome to the forum! Are you planning to return to the world of straights as well?

Hello and welcome to SRP. Check out the Shave Of The Day forum and look at this week's eye candy. Great razors and products this week.

I sent him a link to razor maintenance. He had a little barber training before he decided to go into the military. Don't know if any had to do with straight razor maintenance. Therefore, yes I turned him to the site. I'd rather not have a razor that has that much family history get ruined by ignorance. But it is his razor now.
