    Default Proraso Cream

Hello all. I'm looking at purchasing Proraso shave cream. However, I'm a little hesitant due to some of the poor reviews it gets on Amazon.

What is the general consensus on this cream?

I have the white and the blue and like them both. That's not to say there aren't others I like better ( Speick) but they will both stay in the rotation. They aren't pricey either so its not a big risk. One day I might get the green to try. I have that in the tub and it too is staying.

I have a tube of red cream and a croap of white and like them both.

However with my limited experience I can only compare them to col conk lime soap and walgreen shave soap.

I have it under good authority that I am getting some samples of Catie's Bubbles for Xmas so I will be able to see how they compare...

I remember reading on here or at least I thought the Praroso is a great cream/soap and that a lot of beginners find it very easy to lather.
I just picked up a tube of c.o. bigelow from bath and body works, was picking up stocking stuffers for the wife and they had small tubes for $5. From what I have been told and from whats on the box it came in, it is Praroso green. I lathered some up in my hand just to find out what it smelled like and its not bad at all plus it made a very good lather from just a few seconds in my hand. I say if you have a BBW close by it might be worth a shot for you. I can update in the a.m. when I try it out.

I never tried the white and green for over a year and a half and on Monday I picked up a tube. It was awesome! Menthol goodness.

Nothing wrong with Proraso green. One of the first creams I tried when starting out with straight razors. Very easy to lather. I still use it every now and then when I feel like using something mentholated. The green and white soaps (very soft soaps) are also a good place to start. I can't speak for the red or blue creams since I haven't tried them.

The blue cream is smooth, slick and cheap, and smells good. I like it, and it lathers well.

I have White (cream and soap) and Blue (cream). All of them are good. I used to use them quite a bit, but they have been pushed aside by some others I like better. The White soap was one of my very first. That along with Murphy's Wool Fat Soap were how I learned to make a lather.

As mentioned, they are cheap... so why not give one or more a try?

Proraso/ C.O. Bigelow is good stuff. I like that the C.O. Bigelow can be found locally. However I prefer soaps more then creams so I always keep a tub of Proraso green around for that methanol shave. Vitos pre/post (pretty much the same as Proraso pre/post), Proraso green soap and finished with Aqua Velva ice blue.
