Thanks to all. We all had grandfathers that shaved with straight razors and my mother told me of seeing him strop the edge. I didn't realize that a lot of guys back then took the razors to a local barber to hone.
On that Krieger I bought, I thought I would take it to a local barber to hone- none of them do it. That surprised me because when you get a haircut they used what I thought was a straight razor but when this issue came up the barbers showed me it was a makeshift thing using a replacement blade. Geez...
In any event, I didn't know I could send in a razor and get it honed. I know nothing is etched in stone but if you use the straight razor every day and properly strop it- how often would you have to have it honed? Thanks.
