    I too switched cold turkey. It was hard the first few months, although the transition wasn't as bad, because I came from using a safety razor. Pretty much what others are saying here, but the key things for me were
    A) really light touch - like you are taking off the shaving cream and not the hairs.
    B) stretch the skin
    C) watch the consistency of the lather. Too watery or thick caused issues
    D) do a section at a time (lather and shave)
    E) use preshave cream on each pass, under lather
    F) fight the urge to get a perfect shave - it'll come over time.
    G) relax, don't rush and enjoy the process - and be sure to really pamper yourself some of the times (hot towel, etc)

    It'll come out great over time!

    We all have those shaves! The only advice I can add is that as you keep at it and pay more attention to what specifically is wrong on any given day, they will become less frequent, and then disappear completely (almost). Hang in, but don't keep going on. Shave that isn't going well. I'd finish with another tool!
