Hey all, Thanks for the great info about shaving with straight razor (SR).
Been trying daily now for a few week, bought 3 used SR which are in very good shape. And I learned a lot from the posts.

I was like a ninja boy who was moving the blade around without planning much so I could not cut my hair very short.
Then I read about the pulling the skin in the opposite way of the hair growing. This makes the hair stand up more, making cutting it much easier. This means a single pass will not cut all hair. By using this skin pull technique I was able to have a baby smooth
cheeks. Not one hair left. The neck is more difficult. Also the hair right under the cheekbone, they grow sideways.
What nasty places to use the SR.

Overall I am very satisfied.

The used SR I don't worry for sickness or whatever. Aids dies quickly in open air I read. I did wipe them with alcohol (whiskey).
I bought all 3 5/8 carbon steel: a Redfern & son, Arminius and a 305 Carl Schaap. All honed until 20K (10 passes) the seller said.
About 33 euro per blade. The owner has treated the blades careful as they only have little rust at the pivot point.
2nd hand can be a good choice.
