Thread: Cutting my strop

Hello Everybody;

I am very new at this. Using a SR for 45 days and so far I have succeeded in having an OK shave.

Having said this, I have also succeeded in making minor cuts on both ends of my strop. Theses cuts are minor but big enough to feel them if you pass the finger against the direction of the cut.

My question is how should I treat these cuts. Should I cut the flap or just leave it? My strop is one foot long so I can nor easily avoid the cuts...

The library covers most of it, but the basics are trim the flap off and then sand it flush with fine grit sandpaper.

1000 grit sandpaper on the spots that have cuts.

If a flap type cut i've good luck with rubber cement. Fine sandpaper has helped me with a nicked up restoration.

Best thing for not-cuts is about six months daily practice.

It's all part of the learning curve. Just follow the advice from the members and trudge onward. Someday not in the distant future, you'll be asking for advice on which premium strop to purchase.

Since I have done minor cuts, there is not much material to glue, I think I ll just cut and sand.

All is good as long as is the strop and not my face getting cut....

Just finished cutting and sanding my nicked strop and that did it. You can´t see where the cut was.
