I always just use TP to wipe dry, then quick strop on fabric / leather to remove debris and ensure dry. Then I toss it on my rack or storage box. For razors not in "rotation" I will add a little oil on the blade before storing. No issues. I use the SRD oil for that.

It's hard to tell by your pic, but that blade may need some tlc. I have not dealt with Larry, and have heard great things, so it hopefully is good to go as a starter.

I live less than ½ mile from the sea and use a sponge-type applicator with Ballistol - quick and easy.

As It may be some time before I use the same razor again, I don't need to worry about rotation and how long it was since I used a razor the last time.

It may not be absolutely necessary, but it has become second nature and feels like I left something out if I don't spend the 30 seconds to oil.
