Thread: Any experience with Taylor Of Old Bond Street?

Hello Gentlemen,

I have recently gotten my EJ DE89 and love it with a Feather blade. I haven't tried all the blades in the sample pack yet but will. My real question is: If you have tried the Taylor products what has your experience been? My brother just ordered their sandalwood shave cream/soap and ordered an extra one for me. He says that he has read great reviews and his wife is currently using their lavender cream/soap and loves it. The Sandalwood scent is very pleasing to me and am also looking for any other brands that you might have tried that I don't know about yet. A good Sandalwood Post Shave Balm will likely be my next purchase.

TOBS is a very popular brand. They have a lot of variety, and if you search the net, there are places where you can get sampler packs to try.

My sons and I both own several TOB's and love them. The youngest likes the lavender, the oldest and I like St.James, and several others with Sandalwood coming in last, not that it is a bad smell..we just like the others better. TOB is a staple in our rotations.

Ordered a sample pack and of tem all the sandlewood is one of my top 3. Pretty sure they do aftershave, balms etc in sandlewood as well

if you like A sandalwoody strong smell the Proraso (cream)"red container" is another good inexpensive choice that leaves a more lingering scent after your shave ..
the D.R.Harris "almond , {I think it is I have}" is another good kinda earthy scent .. I always thought from the TOBS soaps I have owned that they were a mild scent that didn't linger long but that is just my opinion of course ..

my ex wife and daughter like the Geo Trumper line of creams , I have only smelled them and never tried them but I really like the smell ..

do you any post shave balm or lotion? or do you just let the shave soap leave the scent? The shave soaps I have now all smell great but I do need a post shave treatment for my "sensitive skin". The more I shave the better my skin is adapting. Just a noob but I can see that I will continue this path.

eddy79: would you mind sharing with me where you order the sampler? Private message is ok. I ordered one and hope it is a reputable vendor. Getting used to the forum so I don't want to advertise for or blast any brand. I can only speak from my short experience in this calming world of grooming.

Trumpers cream is fine but the soap is pretty ordinary.

ToB is great affordable cream in a large variety of scents. The aftershave line is nice, good for your skin, scent does not linger. I am not a fan of everyone's favorite sandalwood. I prefer Eton
