I am a newbie, but I currently have stuff from Trumper and Taylor. I prefer the old school lime after shave and while I slightly prefer the Trumper version, I also have the Taylor #74 and it is some good stuff. Obviously, the good news today is that you can get these products on the interwebz so you don't have to pay a super premium to Ben Silver like I did back int eh day for Trumper stuff.

I have been overloading the Sandalwood too. Now I just dab a little on my finger and put it right in my brush and go straight to the bowl. Still have enough lather for a 5 pas shave. Kinda like it though. The sample pack of TOBS I ordered arrived today. Badger hair brush arrived too. Shave awesomeness awaits..

If you are using the same soap/cream everyday, or you have a number of lather bowls just leave all the excess in the bowl and use it with a bit of fresh product the next day. I wring the excess lather out of my brush and save it with the rest.

edhewitt, Thanks! I don't know why that wasn't just obvious to me. Guess that's why I post here to get advice from those that have been doing this longer.

Its not something everyone does, but it works for me. I reused lather from about 5 weeks ago today with a bit of fresh stuff in it, it worked very well.

Just be sure to thoroughly rinse your brush after off loading the excess lather. I left a brush in the lather pot for a long time. It did not turn out well.

Yes I will give you that one, i think i have read posts by guys who don't rinse their brushes out though. As I only use one brush at home and one at work so I don't think if I did stop rinsing them during the week or weeks that they get used for and just washed them out when I relocated it would probably be ok, i wouldn't want to try it if I had several brushes though.

I have never used TOBS but I currently am using MWF and I leave all the excess (because a little bit makes a ridiculous amount of lather) and I don't rinse out the brush and when I go to shave again I just add a little water and swirl for a while voila lather is back and just as strong. I don't even add any new product to it.

back to the question at hand, i have been given some TOBS samples and used the avocado cream last week until it ran out, i just smeared some on my face and used a wet brush to face lather, it worked very well, gave a good lather and the scent was quite pleasant
