Man that sucked! Hope it wasn't a real bad injury.

Gold Dollars are noted for their decent metal but their grind isn't the best. I have had to rework a couple of them and Double Arrows which have the same problem.

First off an angle grinder is a bit extreme overkill. The tool that is most often used for that kind of grinding is either a belt sander or a Dremel with a stone/grinding bit. Note: you have to be careful not to get the metal too hot. Keep a container of water handy to cool the metal. You start with a fairly rough one and move up to finer grit, finish hand sanding with fine sandpaper then maybe some polishing compound depending on how good you want it to look. Once you get the shoulder ground down so the blade sits flat on the hone Gold Dollars will take a decent edge and with proper polishing give a decent shave.

But, by watching your video I would say this info comes a little bit too late...............

Usually when people rave about what kind of bargain a Gold Dollar is, they don't mention the trouble that has to be gone through to make them useable.

I think you guys should read the description of the video... that person, whoever it is, is grinding the end of a socket extension, not a straight razor
