I had one come in a manila envelope once or I should say and empty manila envelope, a miracle happened when I went to the PO to file a claim, the razor in it's box was on the supervisors desk. She had worked at the PO for 25 years and that was the first time that had ever happened. Moral of the story package it up good so things won't rip and fall out or get crushed.

Shipping a straight razor in a plain envelope is plain stupid

Yeah, I have read this before on the forum, luckily all mine to date have been sent by professionals, wrapped in bubble wrap or plastic in a box type postal. The reason for the box is that it does not go through a sorting machine that has rollers which destroy the razors, it is manually sorted by hand. At least that is what I have heard, sorry to hear about your new razor. Make lemonade out of lemons though, learn how to make your first set of scales or send it to one of the vendors to get some made to your liking.

If I don't have a box, I pack the razor in a plastic toothbrush holder from a cheap shop (about $1.50 for two) and small silica gel packs (free at shoe stores) to keep them dry.
Hang on and enjoy the ride...

I got one shipped to me in half of a Pringles Potato Chip can! I had to laugh when I got it, but it worked! Razor was safe and sound!

I've had it happen but Paypal came to the rescue & I got a full refund. A person that is suppose to be a professional seller especially claiming to be a specialist isn't so special or professional when they ship that way! If he ships like this regularly, it can't be the first time it has happened. They are just cheap in doing it & won't be in business long if they continue to do so. People like us expect to get our items protected & shipped properly & not cheaply like that! I have had things shipped to me in a piece of pvc & that works good.
