Both are awesome. I bought my Ralf Aust 5/8 from SRD and couldn't be happier.

Forget honing till you can shave well then you will know if the edges your putting on work. And by the way after you can shave and strop well, honing is not something you do all the time , the investment in stones doesn't justify, taking care of 1 or 2 razors , I easily get months out of my edges before they need only a refresh, and a pros edge will be right every time and only cost a few dollars , Good luck. FWIW --

    "Razor 1" will work fine.

I would take the price difference between Razor 1 and Razor 2, and spend it on a middle-of-the-road DE razor (e.g. an Edwin Jagger DE89) and some blades.

One day, you'll be rushed, and have to shave around your mustache -- and that's when a DE might come in handy.

PS -- according to one website, the Forestal (razor 2) has a cocobolo handle, and a _full-hollow_ grind. The "Best Quality" is about half-hollow, a somewhat heavier, stiffer blade. They probably use the same steel, and sharpen up to the same edge.
    . . . . . Mindful shaving, for a better world.
