    Default Oops

That didn't go as quite the way I would have liked but it was a first. I expected a nick or ten especially since I have several moles on my face. The moles didn't end up being the problem. In fact things were going well enough that I did my entire face and even went back for some touch ups. Then, as if often the case with those of us that don't know how to quit while they are ahead, things went a little wrong. I went to re position the blade, I failed to lift it completely clear of the skin and slid said blade across my cheek. Note to self "dragging the blade will leave a mark". Other then that it didn't go bad. I am actually looking forward to the next time...hopefully without the oops.

Did the same thing the first time I used a straight. Thank goodness for styptic pencils.

We pay such close attention to the blade during shaving strokes. It's when we do _anything else with jt_ that we lose focus and hurt ourselves (or, in a worse-case scenario, damage the razor).

You soon learn to focus... I had a REALLY dumb moment during my first shave where I foolishly tried to wipe some of the lather back onto my neck using the blade, only so I could touch up a spot.

    Never again...

I lost sight of my blade while trying to shave my sideburns once. I found it with my finger! Almost a bandaid day. It happens for a reason. Experience is the best teacher of what not to do!

...or there's the old "moving face, while blade is resting on same" trick.

Each new nick is a mystery; this morning I dinged the backside of an earlobe. Seriously. WTF?
