Default a sharper knife led me to a better shave

Hi. six months ago needing a new stone to sharpen knives I started searching Amazon. All I wanted was a flat stone since mine had become worn over the years. That led me to a lot of research on stones which led me to water stones which led me to SRD which have triggered something in me and I bought a razor. I looked at it for the first month not sure if I had the guts. I started reading online, directions here and there, even watched Lynn's video on you tube. Six months later I am hooked, not very good yet, but hooked. I do not know if I could shave any other way. I am still holding on to a good electric but I would rather be late for work than give up my shave Thanks to SRD and SRP.

    Hi JTmke,

Welcome to the fold, it is hard to go back to a safety or in your case electric once you have used a Str8.

Enjoy the site, there is a stack here about straight shaving, in particular the honing and advance honing sections may be of interest to you.

What Str8 did you end up getting?
A good lather is half the shave.

thanks, thanks, I started with a Dovo Best 5/8 which is now in a rotation with a Thiers Issard and a Hart. This site has been an awesome wealth of information on stones and razors and well everything.

Welcome! Back when I was trying to decide on staying with a shavette or switch the thing that "got" me was the honing aspect. For me, the shave is the ultimate test of my honing. Anyways, welcome! even though razors are different than sharpening knives I have found that many things transfer over too.
What a curse be a dull razor; what a prideful comfort a sharp one
