Thread: Honing in the Augusta/ Georgia Area

Looking for someone relatively close that can hone a blade for me. any help would be appreciated

If so, I think you have what we call a RSO (Razor Shaped Object). It may look and feel like a straight razor, but the steel is usually poor quality, which means it won't hold an edge. You might be able to get it to shave ready, but that will never last, as UAcowboy mentioned.

Just about everyone who does professional honing (and probably everyone who does their own honing) most likely won't touch that blade because it would be an exercise in futility.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. You may want to keep your eye on the classifieds here for a razor that is going rather inexpensively.

Yes that is the razor i was asking about. Since apparently i have bought a POS and apparently no one will touch it. What blade would you recommend.

That depends on your budget, I suppose.

The first place I'd check is the classifieds here, then after that, or if your budget is decent, go to straight razor designs and take a look. Also, you could check whipped dog, which is another budget friendly site. All of the above will have good service and quality.
