Theirs Issard aren't bad, I've actually had one that's factory edge was actually shave ready, now that's the exception, not the norm.

Aside from the usual suspects, TI, Dovo, RA, don't forget Revisor, a great German brand and IMO a superior blade if you're going to by new....

But yes, for me, I find the vintage razors much better, but that's my preference....

Hmmm I am in the same boat have 32 vintage razors a few 5/8's but no 6/8's, 11/16,13/16 couple of 7/8 As a beginner how does anyone shave with those heavy wade & butcher and sheffields?Check the 7/8's and the 1" blades very hard to find on e.bay,the 1'' is like pure gold They sell in the hundreds at times must be a good collector's item.stay in touch ----William.

If you want to buy a good shave ready vintage razor an excellent place to start is....right here. We have many excellent vendors and products from razors, to hones, strops etc. Another good place is whippeddog as well

eBay pricing is not a good measure of item quality, it's got a good share of sellers wanting much more than what the item's worth. For instance, there's a "Gold Dollar" straight razor on eBay with the seller asking for £500!
