Default Beginners razor and where to find it

Hello, I've been shaving with a DE for little over a year now and been using a Feather AC on and off for maybe half that time, and while I like the shaves the Feather gives me it could be a little more... shall we say forgiving? Don't get me wrong, I get great shaves form it but I would like to try something else. (And besides, if Shaveopcalypse happens and takes Feather with it, no more blades right?)
So I'd like to give straights a try. I got a deal from Whipped Dog and liked it (the tugging I felt turned out to be my angle being way off) and will keep it, but I would also like a razor that isn't so... unseen. I've read up on new razors and the sentiment seems to be "Make sure the seller hones it good!". Which is fine advise, but how do I know what stores hones and who doesn't? They all claim to be great honers! And what's worse, most razors are out of stock everywhere which makes it harder still.

So I was wondering if any nice members here have any tips on a nice razor from a reputable vendor that's actually in stock?

If you've found vendors that you feel comfortable buying from, but they are out of the razor you want, then reach out to them via a land line or at least email & you might find out that resupply is sooner than you think or they can at least give you a date. Our classified section has a vast turn around on all types of razors, many of the members selling, can hone to a comfortable shave & will do that for the razor that they are selling.

There are so many good vendors that are members here. Look into the "vendors" section of the forum for your answer.

Just to bring closure to this thread, a kind member of this board named lz6 saw my predicament and offered to sell me a brand new 6/8 spanish point Ralf Aust at a modest rate and today it arrived in wonderful shape. Can't wait to try it out! Thanks for the suggestions and a big thank you to lz6 for helping me out!
