Thread: Just saying hi and a bit about my experience thus far

I've been lurking on here for a bit now and decided it was time I became a member. I started shaving with a straight razor a few months ago just out of sheer curiosity and because it seemed like something exciting. I fell in love with it as soon as I did it the first time, despite the nicks and cuts. As of now I have two razors, a Dovo Classic, the best thing I could think of for my name.. and a cheap little number that I've been using to as a learning tool. Once I got the whole shaving action down, I turned to the problem of maintaining my razor. It seems like a common problem people have is that they can't hone and I had the same ordeal. Instead of risking my expensive razor, i bought a cheap one and started working with it and experimenting with the honing process. This site came in very handy. It was when I learned the importance of the bevel that it finally clicked and I succeeded in sharpening my first razor. Anyways thats my story and a tangent in a nutshell. Glad to be here!

Welcome and congrats on the honing. It gets easier the more you do. If you have a practice blade just dull it and start again and soon you be nailing it no sweat.
