    Default Introducing myself.

I am new to straight razor shaving. Brought a Dovo 5/8 blade a couple of months ago and watched a few youtube instruction videos and gave it a go. Still enjoying it and starting to get some nice gear together. Unfortunately I live in Macau which seems to have no decent shopping for soaps strops razors etc. So far all the soaps and other things I have needed have had to be shipped from the US or Europe. If anyone stays local and knows of anywhere to get some shaving products I would appreciate it. Particularly a strop ( my 1st one is nicked and just about had it.)

    Hi, welcome to SRP.

Hong Kong is your best bet. I've seen a few stores selling British soaps and shave products there, but I've never seen a strop.

I tend to lean towards using the Internet. I figure anything I might buy from a store here, I'm paying the shipping anyway, may as well buy from the Internet and have a wider selection.

    Enjoy your DOVO,
    Darren

Welcome to SRP dovo, enjoy the ride here on the forum. Great info, good pics of razors to envy and a wide ranging group of people to communicate with on every topic under the sun. If you buy from the internet, check out Australian sites, shipping costs might be cheaper than from Europe, England, Canada or the States. And the great thing about the forum is if one guy doesn't know the answer there will be a half dozen that will.

Welcome to the marvelous journey of shaving with a straight. I have heard nothing but good things of Larry at Whippeddog. Enjoy the shaves and I wish you the best of luck with getting your hands on some good soaps and creams.

Despite the high cost of living, it's still very popular.

Thank you Roob and Brenngun(great name), Larry was the best can't think of a better way for someone new to start. The kit emails and advice were all fantastic. The Dovo is the best , although I am on the lookout for something new just to compare. Having the razor shave ready without the hassles of getting it so was great.

Welcome to SRP. This was the first and really only site I ever have used on my journey. I was a lurker here for a. Few years before I started getting involved, but everything I learned came from this site. I called myself a lurker, but there was so much awesome info and members just waiting to eagerly help that I just read! Have fun, ask questions and Happy Shaves!

Welcome, and enjoy. This is a great site for learning and a great forum. I first used a SR 30 years ago. There was no internet and the guy who sold me the razor and strop at a retail store had, I'm sure, never used one. The videos, the wiki and the discussions here are an enormous help for my re-start. I hope they are for you too!
