Default To those who said that I'd nick my strop I have only this to say ...

Yup. Finally happened. Very odd, too, as I got a succession of very small and thin nicks all during one stropping session. Best I can deduce is that, although I was turning over on the spine in the correct way, I must have not killed all the forward motion at the instant the edge touched down. I was going faster than in the past and, of course, speed kills.

Here's what I'm doing in penance. Since it's the right edge that's nicked, I'm switching to holding the strop with my right and holding the razor with my left. Forces me to be slower since it's the non-dominant hand. Working so far.

Don't jinx him. Lol. Just kidding. I believe it happens to us all. Too much speed, a moment of carelessness, all it takes.

No biggie, I and almost everyone else has done that. I think your guess as to why is pretty close too. Remember it is only a strop and they can be fixed or another bought in replacement. The only caveat with strops is don't buy any that you can't afford to replace, it will hurt less that way.

You can always get a new strop. A new neck, now that's a different story ...
