    Default 5/8 or 6/8 ????

I just received my new Ralf Aust 6/8 stainless razor, having already purchased a 5/8 which was great. However the 6/8 was much easier to shave with, I suppose because of the angle it creates. I love them both, but I suggest the 6/8 for the beginner like me, because it does seem to be more forgiving and easier to shave with for a newbie.

Not exactly: you create the angle between the blade and your face, not the razor. I believe (and I also prefer a 6/8) that it is a combination of the weight, grind, and size of the blade that make the difference.

    Smooth shaving!

I like 'em both and I have some 5/8s that are favorites. If I am buying a new razor it will be a 6/8 though. That is my favorite size.

I like them both. I like the heft of the 6/8 and the agility of the 5/8.

6/8's razors are definitely easier to strop. I prefer them to any other size when shaving also. It seems to me the smaller the blade the easier it is to roll it up on the edge, and dig in, giving you a nice clean cut, and not the kind you want.......

I just got my 6/8 RA Spanish point the other day too, my first new razor! And it is sweet, hot knife on butter, very smooth!

I like the 6/8" better. The bigger blade seems to give me more control on the strop and on the face.

6/8 all the way. I don't usually shave with anything smaller.

I have both and just got done shaving with a 5/8 for the last month; however, I prefer the 6/8 and would spend my money on that size first.

Obviously you're right. It must be the way it feels that helps me create a better angle. At any rate, I really like the way it handles for me.
