Thread: 5th Str8 Shave ... or >>> After 5 Still Alive

I recently received a nifty Puma from my local barber as a gift and decided to give it a go for my 5th shave. I've had excellent luck and result on my first 4 shaves so it was time to push the envelope a bit. I planned a full 3 pass session. now that the preparation is complete it's time to jump in. 1st pass with the Puma is a little difficult. Lots of tugging. This razor definitely needs a proper honing. I persevere thru the 1st pass but abandon the Puma for a recently purchased shave ready Dovo Master on pass 2 and 3.

Results: No missed spots but one nick on the upper lip from the Puma. Also a bit of razor burn not experienced in previous sessions. Have to believe it was the Puma. All in all still another positive experience.

Congrats! Good for you...I'm on about shave 50 and I really enjoy taking my time, it's the journey, not the destination. My last shave was WTG, ATG, and XTG and got a BBS shave, no razor burn and still (X my fingers) haven't had a cut yet!

Aside from the fact that I basically destroyed my razor trying to clean some water / soap stains it's been great.

I figure I'll get into using other razors in another 6 months or so, when I feel I've got a good feel for my DOVO - honing etc....seems a long way off...from what I've read, it's far more of an art than a science and I don't want to destroy any of the other razors I Have. I send them out and get them professionly done, that way I'll get to understand a master honing versus something I might do....
