    Default RazorCon '09 honing videos

Have these already been posted? I was actually going to post a follow-up to the thread asking for video editors, but after a search on YouTube I noticed that they were added just the other day. I didn't see anything immediately in the forums so I'll post the links here. Please delete/close this thread if they're submitted elsewhere.

    Part 1 (9:37):
YouTube - Straight Razor Place '09 Convention. Lynn Honing #1

    Part 2 (9:36):
YouTube - Straight Razor Place '09 Convention. Lynn Honing #2

    Part 3 (6:31):
YouTube - Straight Razor Place '09 Convention. Lynn Honing #3

I only got to catch about 30 minutes of the live stream and I've been waiting to see the full videos.

Many thanks, I needed that. If it had been posted I missed it.

    Thank you for those videos.
They were informative and nice to watch.
Looks like they were having a lot of fun!
    But I have a question;
did Lynn go from the Naniwa 1k directly to the Naniwa 8k,
    or did I miss something?

When i hone & strop, although there's a certain amount of flipping the blade with my fingers, my wrist also turns. I've always been told this was bad technique, but i find i keep far better control of the razor.
It was very reassuring to see Lynn's wrist turning too. There's hope for me yet!

I haven't seen the videos yet, but the 1k and the 5k are just slightly different shades of blue. I suspect what you presume to be a 1k is actually the 5k.

Yes I actually missed it; at 6:11 in Video one he switches from 1k to 5k.
    Both are blue ...
    Thanks Utopian

Nice video's. Lynn also used the secret hone that has been asked about in another thread. It is a huge rock and I wonder where these stones can be found? Also what the cost of said hone is?

These are great video's, although they have been in rotation on the home page for some time I never took the time to watch them until I recently had to fix 2 razors with minor chips, with the help of these videos the chips are gone and razors are nice and sharp again.

For those new to honing or like me who only ever did X strokes these videos cover honing circles (among other tips) which if you do as Lynn instructs work great.

All definitely worth a view if you haven't already.
