Cool What is the "Shave Test" Vid

This is a quick demo of what is meant by the term "Shave Test" the objective is the test the edge of the razor, it is not to test the shaving technique of a new user..
The razor should cut through the beard from Sideburn to Jawline without hesitation, pulling, tugging, or pain, the results should actually surprise you with how smooth the face is.. There should be virtually no hair left behind.. If you cannot achieve this easily then there is no reason to try the rest of the face, this pass is the easiest on the face, the rest just gets more difficult...
This is also a good starting point for new Straight Razor shavers, learn the easy flat sides of the face and then finish with your old way of shaving, gradually work your way out into the more difficult areas of the face, as you gain proficiency with the SR..

(The razor is a Dovo "Best Quality" 6/8 Round point Full Hollow grind, that is the sound they make when cutting a beard)

Thanks for watching and I hope that helps a bit...

Now for the rest of the story, the wife had already gone to bed before I did the vid, she has actually never seen me in the 22 years we have been together with a fully clean shaved face... Should be a interesting morning tomorrow

Thanks for the video. I especially liked that big white strop hanging behind you in the shave den. Where can I get one of those extra-long strops?

    Hi Glen,

Thank you for the interesting and informative video! I didn't realize that the lather actually does lift the whiskers if you let the lather "set"; I'll pay attention to that next time I shave.

It could be an illusion because of the camera angle, but it appeared to me as if your razor was raised more than two spine-widths above your cheek. Of course, it's more likely that I've been mis-judging my angles, because when I use what I call a "high" angle such as you were using, I get the best shaves.

You are a lucky man. When I shaved off the moustache that I had worn for years before I even met my wife of 24 years (at her request), she never let me grow it back!

    Cheers,
    Jeff

Great vid and information as always,

I must digress until I realized you had posted this I, well I skimmed past it.

I guess I take for granted sometimes the amount of reading and research an individual will undertake as well as what they may take away with them in the form of knowledge.

    Thanks again

Could You not, while the towel does its work on the face, rob the bank around the corner? That would make the time being used well and You'd end up with a little pocket money after each shave.
