Thumbs up New Uberlather recipe !!!

This is a new one that honestly I was rather surprised at...

I have to thank Michael/HornM for bringing these products to the Spokane meet..

They are a Portland Oregon Company...called Escential (no I did not mis-spell it)

    you can find them here

    Escential Lotions & Oils

The Himalaya shave soap is good on its own nice very light citrus scent good lather... Melts easily into a shave dish using the double boiler method...

Perfume oil, essential oil, aromatherapy, moisture lotion, skin care, bath products, massage oil, shea butter,

Now the Shave cream is different, Organic Shea & White Tea Shave Cream
this is actually a brush-less cream so if you are not an Uber junkie stay away

Perfume oil, essential oil, aromatherapy, moisture lotion, skin care, bath products, massage oil, shea butter,

The magic happens with an Uberlather mixed with 5 drops of Glycerin, the resulting Creamy goodness shaves great, and conditions even better...

I love the super light scent and how creamy this Uber really is... The lather is pretty easy to whip up, even with my "hard as nails" well water...

I would not recommend either of these separately, the soap is good, but not great, and the Cream is lacking when used as directed... BUT together they ROCK !!!!

The price isn't bad at all...

Default Can anything good come out of Portaland? :)

Gunner, I was there yesterday. I'd seen the cream (displayed by the caswell-massey and Musgo Real), but been skeptical. I had not seen the soap.
'May be from splitting a chord+ of maple today that I'm not following very clearly, but I'm not understanding how your go about the mix of the two that satisfies. Make lather w/ soap first, then a swirl or so of the brush in the cream?

'Tried a couple casell-massey, and they are great - for about 3 min., then seem to disappear or dry into crust. Maybe there's a technique for their use that I haven't managed to get the hang of.

Any chance you could talk a little about the mix procedure?
    Many thank!

I'll come back to your recipe the next time I stock up on soaps and creams. The key here kids is the five, not six or seven drops of glycerin added to the mix. Too much of that stuff, and your lather will perhaps end flat and collapse, leaving you with dry skin. Thanks for the share GS.

PS, BTW Glen, do you think that your combo would mix different with cold water vs. warm/hot?

The old Guide is still on here..

    http://straightrazorpalace.com/shavi...berlather.html

I really have never moved from that system ...

As to cold water you are going to have to let us know on that Johnny I just have no luck with getting cold water to lather unless I am away from home...
I think the mineral content in our well water kills it, in fact if I am not using super hot water the lather suffers at home...
This seems not be a pretty fool proof lather though so I would say it has a good chance of working...

I've done both ways (warm/cold) and it seems to work out decently with either. Honestly during the couple weeks of 100ish degree weather we had I stuck with primarilly a cold Prorasso green Uber or the Himalya Uber.
I found this soap and cream about the same time I started wetshaving and was still having some acne issues. Even with the cream being brushless I got such amazing glide (even with the shavette I was using) and it helped to ease up the general irratation you run into when new to W/S. Also being diabetic I"ve found that the shea butter helps me ease up the damaged skin I get from doing finger sticks to test my blood sugar throughout the day (I'll develop pretty hard calus spots on my finger tips).

Glad to hear that you liked the stuff G. I've already talked to Garret about getting more of the aftershave lotion...for his wife.

    Shave on,
    Michael

I've actually gotten the cream to pseudo lather. It actually becomes a really thick creamy stuff. I'll have to uber it tonight. I just cut up the bar into a bowl. It worked ok. The stuff does lather in my well water as well.

And yes the wife did steal the AS balm, but she doesn't like the really thick lathers as they clog the DE.

I never thought about adding EO to the mix. I assumed it would burn the skin? Great idea.

The only problem with this combo is while it certainly is economical based on the base price of the soap and cream the $11 shipping unless you order $75 worth of other stuff puts it back in the higher priced category. If only you could buy this stuff on amazon.
