    Default Classifieds trouble

Unable to place ads -- message informs me that I'm over my 6 ad limit -- but I only have one active ad, the rest are sold/archived. Any help? Thanks.

I think if the item is sold but there is still time left for the add to expire (say 3 out of 7 days left) you have to wait for those 3 days before you can post.
I thought if there is no option to delete the add, then the add should expire after the item is sold but I guess this is not how it works

That sounds about right. You should be able to post again once the old ads expire tho the classifieds can have a mind of their own sometimes

I'v got a cold, which leaves me grumpy, and the last thing I want to do is grouse about a free service... but three of those ads are more than 2 weeks old and I always list for 7 days. Now I'll shut up and go to bed. Thanks for your time, anyway, I appreciate someone trying to help out.

stimpy52, if you look at the archives you have 5 sales with posting dates from 16th - 20th Oct.
I don't know how long for the software to time out the ones from 16th-17th Oct. but I can't see any 2 week old ones that would prevent posting.
Try again in a few days & see how you go.

Duck special #1, 11/16" Muted Square, 3-pin scales - Straight Razor Place Classifieds
Geneva Cutlery Pyramid, 5/8 Hollow Square - Straight Razor Place Classifieds
Thistle (German) 9/16 Hollow - Straight Razor Place Classifieds
9/16 Robeson Shur-Edge Square, hammered tang - Straight Razor Place Classifieds
**REDUCED!!** Levering "Mail Pouch" -- 5/8 Square - Straight Razor Place Classifieds
4/8 Cattaraugus Shoulderless, barbers' notch ! - Straight Razor Place Classifieds

Those were the ones counting against your limit.

The way it is right now, archived ads count toward the limit until they expire - in most cases (sometimes some will slip through; the software is buggy). That was the tradeoff to be able to archive the ads.
We didn't write the classifieds software, and the code is not well documented, so taking it apart is a daunting task. It was decided that it wasn't worth the trouble - since the classifieds are not intended to be a store front not many people should run into the wall created by listing more than six items in a week.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government.

Oh crap, I think I set all my sold ads to expire after 60 days I guess I'll have to wait 2 more weeks before I can place another ad.

It might be a good idea to remove the option of having an ad expire after 30 or more days.

Since there isn't a way to delete the ad or edit the expiration after the ad is placed, that might be a good idea

I'm in the same boat, with ads placed before the change, I think. Being able to see or edit the expiration would most helpful. Certainly, the short expiration ad would be the way to go forward.
