Went over to our local craft store tonight and they had unfinished shadowboxes with glass fronts that open for 14.99 I grabbed one and am going to finish it for a razor display box. I will post a pic here when I get it finished. I was concidering cuting a pegboard to size and fiting it insde to be able to adjust the peg design as needed any opinions?

My wife made a couple shadowboxes when I first started collecting and she used pegboard and covered it with black cloth. Looks real nice.

Some really nice "Shave Den" pics here. I'm super jealous of everyone with a bathroom big enough for this stuff. I got my little apartment hallway bathroom, and it'll be barely big enough to hold the soaps and bowls I need to do a basic shave properly.

When I buy a house in the next few months, I'll have to make sure I can have a respectable shave den...

I want a place for my straights too... Just out of curiosity. Does cedar corrode steel? I've read somewhere that it contains some oils with low pH-value or something.

A bump for the question above, and a quick question of my own:

I have a small humidor that I've left sadly vacant for quite some time now. Would that work for razor storage if I keep it dry in there?

    Answers for both questions above:

    1. Not any problem that I know of with cedar, however this was aged wood, and was treated with stain.... which I would recommend for any wood going in a bathroom.....A marine spar urethane would be another option here!!!!!

    2. A Humidor is designed to keep moisture in, so I would have to assume that it would keep moisture out, too, However don't most humidors have a small venting system???? that might be a problem, if the moisture could get in, and then stay in there!!!!!

I don't know of a venting system in a humidor.
I have one and it's basic purpose is to keep
the moisture in. You have to keep up with the
humidification device to keep the moisture
    level acceptable otherwise it will
lose it's moisture level over time.

This is why I never throw away silica gel packs. They also work well to keep cereal crunchy!

I just completed this little project for the shave den. Red oak with about 4 coats of poly. I notice I have some space at the end. I need to get busy and do some shopping.
