Default Wilkinson 7 day SE shave set

Picked this shave set up on the same trip as the Sheffie. Cleaned up OK but the all the blades need honing and it is missing the strop. When I am feeling ambitious I'll get to the honing and have a strop made for it. It is just one of those things you can't resist and odd ball enough to be interesting. If it shaves as well as the other SEs I have I'll be a happy camper.

Do we have anyone who uses one?

Yea, got around to honing up and using 2 of the blades. I have used my Rolls Razor and my Darwin razor too. There are others on here that do use them too, at least occasionally.

    Very nice!
Yes, I have a few shaves behind me with them. It acts like a Autostrop in stropping and takes a very thin strop like the autostrop, in fact, I used one till i made my own of tongue leather from an ancient shoe shop.
The shave is really good when the blade is properly honed. You may adjust the depth of the blade exposure with the knurled screw on the back. The handle unscrews slightly to allow the head to pivot for stropping. The original strop i found had a pasted and a smooth side.

I do not remember how many layers of tape i used. The blade slides out of the adapter at only one end and is a wee width , about half the width of a normal double hollow blade. The early ones had a double hollow grind and the later were a sheet steel blade in a piece of tubing. Hone with the blade out of the holder. Do a single pass on 1k and see how much tape to add for getting the bevel correct. Some of my blades were really worn at the spine.

Have fun, you do have a masterpiece in silver plate!

Hey Richard, thanks. I kind of figured you would have at least one. The two blades I honed up were ground hollow blades like a straight. I remember thinking it was odd that the hollow grinding looked like it had been done in a series of horizontal cuts with a small wheel and not one single wheel.
