I have a few spikes and they are amongst my favorites...Mean as HELL, but awesome!!

Nice setup too...Enjoy your new found love (scuttle)
RESPECT is the word. I have a new Dovo that is insanely sharp point. This was my 2nd time using this razor, and all my vintage spike points are not as sharp in the point.

Ya' know I am started on spikes (they were cheaper back in the day) and didn't care tfor them...loved the round tips...Now I find that a spike get all those hard to get to areas better..like under the nose and around the side burns...My Red Imp went from barely used; to most used in a couple years...And it has now been in my rotttion longer than any other razor...So may be with the younger smooher face the round tip is money, but when you get older the face and whiskers grow in wierder harder to get places with the tensil strenght of ribar,, a spike does the trick

Thumbs up Week of August 8 SOTD - Tuesday

Pre-Shave: Hot shower + fresh lemon juice + Stephan's Smooth Conditioning Shaving Creme
Razor: 7/8" Filarmonica Doble Temple #14, Square Point
Brush: 24mm Thäter Silvertip Badger, Olive wood handle
Creme/Überlather: AOS Lavender Shave Creme + Mama Bear's Mirrh Soap + Glycerin
Astringent: Thayers Witch Hazel (lavender, no alcohol)
    Post-shave: Trumper's Limes Skin Food
    Cologne: Penhaligon Endymion
Facial Moisturizer: NancyBoy Replenishing Facial Moisturizer
Result: This morning, I decided to add a new regimen to my routine - lemon juice. It worked wonders. Aside from its many beneficial qualities, the acidity helped smooth the skin and soften the beard further. Then came the lather workup phase with the Thäter...boy, what a treat! Pure, unadulterated luxury. I loved the feel of these bristles on my face. Then came the "Pièce de la résistance" - the Fili DT 14. The singing of this blade on the strop (on Premium IV Bridle) was enough to tell me that this beast meant business. And, what a shave ...smoooooth as butter. I would say this razor is equivalent to an earthquake for beards - when it came, whiskers fell! Plain and simple.

Love you SOTD away from home man. Also koodos for finding time to post..."We, who are about to shave salute you" . Even when away from home, you find a way to use your str8. I will probably stick to Fusion when traveling (I don't want the hassle of checking bags or dealing with security ). How did you travel with your str8 (checked bag or mail in advance)?

Did you take your paddle strop? I'd be curious how you like it.

    Tuesday 8/10/10

    Geneva Cutlery 6/8
    Semogue 1305
    MWFss
    Thayers Cucumber WH w/ aloe
    Anherb a/s conditioner
    212 Edt

A fairly decent shave but had trouble getting a smooth a shave as I know I can get...I suspect the blade needs a touch up on the barber hone or else I really messed up the edge with my stropping (which is always a possibility). At least no bleeding today. Dug the 212 out of the back of the pile for a rare appearance.

    Nathan,
Nice post. I am curious as to how you liked the new Thayer's Cucumber WH? They also have peach or something.

    SOTD Tuesday August 10, 2010

Razor: 6/8 Abraham George, Sheffield, Full Hollow, Spike Point, in Translucent Ox Horn (Thanks Glen!)
Pre-Shave Prep: 3 Minute hot towel soak
Pre-Shave Cream: Proraso Crema Pre Barba
Shave Cream: Acqua di Parma SC (Thanks Curtiss!)
    Lather Bowl: Ceramic
    Scuttle: RAB Ceramic
    Brush: Col Conk Barbershop Badger
    ASB: Nivea Replenishing
    Aftershave: Adidas Dynamic Pulse

    Results: Heavenly!

Received the Abraham George from Glen (gssixgun) yesterday as well as a sample of the Acqua di Parma SC from Curtiss (Scissors). The beauty of this rescale work cannot be captured in pictures. The streaks of color of the Ox Horn grain running through the scales is awesome. The scales were polished to a luxurious gloss and the design and workmanship is suburb! Glen you are an artist! (He doesn't like it when I say that but, it's true!) LOL
Special thanks to Curtiss for the Acqua di Parma SC sample. This is an outstanding SC. I put a small almond sized dollop into the lather bowl, (noticed it was very thick and solid) when I started to lather it, the small chunk didn't melt away very fast which is a good thing because, it built lather like you wouldn't believe. The small chunk was only half dissolved so I took the remainder out of the bowl and put it back into the jar. By that time I had more lather than I knew what to do with! (More than enough for a three pass shave.) The cushion was outstanding and the glide was superb as well. The Abe Geo was honed to a scary sharp edge by Glen on his Japanese Nakayama Midori Nashiji stone and the outstanding cushion that the ADP SC provided was a welcome comfort! This shaving experience was an absolute pleasure and I almost feel guilty for not going out on the town or something instead of going out into the carport and replacing my DW's car battery. (Not on par with the ultimate shaving experience!) LOL
