Razorguy dear, what a pleasure to see you again! I also think that the carbon damascus steel made by Mastro is the best possible result. I have two and they are the ones who shave better and I leave the post shave better. Those made of stainless steel have other qualities' and if I compare them with the Friodur, this makes a bad impression! Very soon I hope to post more photos of the razor that the master is doing for me. Surely you can see them before me and this makes me very happy!

Shaving with a kamisori is different from shaving with any other type of razor. Not just you need to use a different technique and grip, it is also the result to be different in many aspects. Although in my collection I have just about ten kamisori razors, I must admit this Mastro Livi kamisori is my favorite one. As usual, here it is my post for the shave of the day thread: http://straightrazorpalace.com/shave...ml#post1316662
This Mastro Livi kamisori is a superior performer. Not only it is made from the well known Mastro Livi carbon damascus steel, but it is also capable of giving a truly deep and clean shave. Aggressive for sure, however with a gentle touch, it truly is a magnificent shaver. Not to mention this was the second Mastro Livi razor I added to my collection and, so far, it never needed honing or crox, I have always treated it with stropping and hand palm stropping. Moreover, when Mastro Livi gave me this razor, he asked me if I could test it in a special way and I guess some of you still remember about it. He asked me not to strop this kamisori at all in order to see how many shaves I would get before it started pulling. Well, it took eighteen shaves before it started pulling a little. It took just a good stropping in order to be back in good shape and it still is. Amazing kamisori!

I've never tried a Kamisori, I haven't the right switching technique for this instrument but that 'I really like. Maybe sooner or later I'll try '. I can, however, 'to confirm that using the Mastro Livi's strop, I can do many tens of shaven with all my razors. And always with the best comfort.
I do not know if the other strops have the same performance 'cause I've always used this.

Using a kamisori requires a different approach from using a straight razor. It is not that difficult and with just a little of practice you will learn to properly use it. It is a different shaving experience.
As for Mastro Livi strop, it is the best I have ever used although I admit I have about ten other strops (paddle, loom and hanging) no one compares to Mastro Livi's. It is the only type of strop I use now.

Yesterday I went to Mastro Livi's workshop because I promised to a couple of SRP members I would have took some pictures of the making of their straight razors and, you know gentlemen, promises must always be fulfilled. However, watching Mastro Livi all day long making razors, I mean, beautiful razors which never will be mine, made me ending up ordering a new razor for me. I thought it was a shame going back home with empty hands so I had to find something nice in order to have them gorgeously full. Well, you know how these kind of things goes and, yes, now I have another magnificent Mastro Livi razor. A kamisori, to be precise. A Mastro Livi style kamisori, to be even more precise.
The choice of steel has been easy: as soon as I saw a bar of a Hakapella Damasteel I thought it was the one. Love at first sight, I would say. Gorgeous pattern! Lines and eyes, simply expressive and beautiful pattern. Moreover, the other Mastro Livi kamisori I have is made of his carbon damascus steel, so I thought I should have one made of Damasteel, in my opinion a great and aggressive steel for razors giving deep and perfect shaves.
As for the scales, I wanted them to be of abalone mother of pearl because I think its pattern has some similarities with Damasteel's Hakapella.
What you see in the following pictures is the result of a shiny new masterpiece made by Mastro Livi. I love it! A breathtaking beauty! I guess this Sunday shave is going to be stellar.

I can't say nothing about this razor!!! It is beautifull. I love very much the handle of mastro livi's razors and this is another great handle. Antonello is a specialist of handle. I remember the last handle of new grind razor, a real masterpiece. This is another masterpiece! My compliment Antonello, and good shave for many years with your new razor!

Thank you Stefano, I am glad you appreciated my new Kamisori. You know, when you go to Mastro Livi's workshop to take pictures of someone else's razors, it is a real torture to know they are not yours. I had to do something quick in order to please myself too.
I guess you too will soon have something new to please yourself, won't you?
