    Default Barbers notch

Whats the purpose of blades with the barber notch blade?
Is there a use for the notch or is it just for looks?

A lot of wives tales, but a barber just told me that the notch was for ease of opening the razor. They do look cool though.....

Thanks for the info. My barber said the same thing. They made it easier to open and the curved tip made it easier to move around the face with less cuts from the spike point, supposedly. They do look wicked cool....which might be why I like them so much.

With a barber's notch, the barber can open the razor one-handed by hooking the notch on his waistcoat pocket.

Aha! So that's the problem, huh? No waistcoat? I suffer similarly
