Thread: Wet Pack / Dopp Kit / Travel Bag?

I'm looking for one, does anyone have a favorite that they'd recommend?

Also, there seems to be a wide price margin: is the luxurious tooled leather kit really $160 better than a jobber off Amazon?

Lots of options here - from really cheap to expensive.

At a pinch you can use a plastic toothbrush case for your razor.

I'm using a Smiggle zippable, semi-hard shell pencil case.

Smiggle : Hardtop Pencil Case
(Mine is black - because it's a boy colour )

Room for three razors, a barber hone and a side pocket where I can stick a small mirror, styptic pencil and my brush.

The dopp kit, as anything else in the world of shaving, is a matter of taste. Some are expensive and some not. You can buy one for $15 and another for much higher. What is the one you prefer worth to you?

I like the old-style roll up dopp kits. Mine is from Truefitt & Hill, brown with black inside, and I love it. I think Truefitt lists it for $125. I believe SRD carries the same make, too, though theirs seems to be black outside and beige inside.

Yeah, that roll-up style seems to be very popular and I was able to find several manufacturers. I've linked at least four different manufacturers below; but, I also read on Badger & Blade that the Saddleback Leather Company is looking to make those, so likely I will hold out for that!

Thanks for posting the links. Yes, mine is a replica of the British military wet pack. It is not leather; rather, a water proof synthetic product that prevents stains. I must say, that chocolate brown wet pack is nice to have.

My thanks for the links as well. I already own a rollup wet pack or Dhobi kit very similar to the ones shown in the links that I purchased from J Peterman years ago. Haven't used it in ages, but this thread has inspired me to take it off the bookshelf in my bedroom and begin using it again.

as a man who often lives out of his backpack.. i'm quite inclined to get one of this.. wondering if there is a non leather one out there.. just for a little style.. i'd like a corduroy maybe?

I have Rowallan of Scotland wash bag. I use it at work and when traveling. It is ok. Nice brown leather and large enough to store the essentials. Not too large. I've had it with me even when traveling with motorcycle.

While I've not bought that particuar wash bag, I've purchased Rowallan through that bag shop before and love the brand!!!

I've had a few, including some of the nice leather dopp kits. But now, with all the travel restictions, charges for checked bags, and stricter weight lmits, I have pretty much settled on one of these simple L.L. Bean gear bags.

They are light, well thought out, functional and cheap. They are also soft and mold into whatever space you have in your bag, unlike stiffer leather. And besides, if you just have carry-on, you need the liquids in a ziploc bag anyway.

I know, it takes the "romance" out of having a beautiful traditional leather rollup, but if it is air travel you need the bag for, you need to be practical nowadays.
