    Default SE Wisconsin/Chicago Meet

    Afternoon gentlemen,

On Aug 13th (tentative depending availability/preference), I will be hosting a meet at my apartment. I have a fairly large patio/balcony thing that can host a number of people. I have seating for 8 if it doesn't rain. If it rains, we'll have to roll with the punches.

I am not exactly building a house with hones, so those are limited and only have 1 strop. Nor am I exactly an expert at honing razors, it does take me a significant amount of time. So, I won't be able to hone 10-15 razors in a day.

Other than that, there's a metric ton of restaurants/bars within a reasonable walking distance. Or we can drive if we feel too lazy, whichever works.

I cannot commit at this time but I am interested in learning/meeting.

I should mention, that this is really just a date temporarily set so I can actually have my apartment reasonably clean/organized for a larger group of people. I'm not opposed to sharing beer before then.

I will start pm'ing people this weekend.

Bumping up this thread for those that check new posts.

Some people may be concerned about the time, but is really not an issue unless you want to stop by at 6am.

I might be able to come. If I do, I could bring my scope, camera, and TV set-up if there is sufficient room. If needed, I could bring my own table.

I can bring whatever number and variety of hones you may wish. If there is a particular hone someone wants to try, just let me know and I will bring it if I have it.

It will be about a 4 hour drive for me each way so you don't have to worry about me showing up at 6am!

I sent some PM's, although I did it slightly recklessly and didn't keep track of who I sent them to because I thought I could see my sent message. I cannot

Sent about 15-20 to the more recently active members, can't really host something more than that.

Hopefully this thread picks up a little...

    John,

August is a tough one for me, as I have many family activities planned. I can squeeze it in on Saturday, August 6.
    Thanks,
    Obie

    Great minds! lol

I have Naniwa 1/5/8/12, a Vermio, a bout 8 coticule (seems fast) and a possible thuringian. I'd be interested in learning/playing with other coticules if possible or other finishers. Right now I can manage to hone, but there's definitely room for improvement and consistency.

I recently purchased a 48" TV that should have USB hookups if that will work, I can move around tables to accommodate. Would definitely be interested in seeing/learning with scopes. I picked up a few loupes from amazon yesterday and they should be here anytime between now and the meet.

If you don't want to drive back the same night, there's a plethora of hotel options in the area. From Motel 6 ($48) to The Clark Hotel (closest to me and probably ~$150).

Obie, unfortunately I will be out of town August 4th-7th
