Thread: September 19th Iowa meet up

Alright everyone

I will be hosting a meet up in Humboldt Iowa on the 19th of September. We can hopefully make this an annual event .

The time of the meet up is flexible I would say start time approx 11am (hopefully this leaves time for travel to and from for those having to drive more than small distances)
obviously showing up early is fine.

The plan is to grill for lunch for all who attend. (menu is yet to be picked but probably something along the lines of burgers -brats- chicken)

I'll check with my wife but odds are that I can attend. I would suggest an earlier start (in the range of 10-11am) time to allow for more actual meet-up time. These things tend to go pretty fast but often people start bugging out around 5 or 6pm.

Please let us know what you'd like to focus on for the meet-up and what you'd like to be brought. If you want it to be honing centric (which they tend to be), I can bring hones, a microscope, and a video hookup for the scope. Others who plan on attend should also let us know if there is anything else they want to try or use.

Hopefully we can get several beginners to show up.

I'm still new to this so any changes for the better I'm open to just let me know and I will try to accommodate for everyone.

As far as focus .... Honing would be good but anything would be great .... I'm still quite new to this and so any and all types of info help me lol ... At some point in the future I will be learning to hone myself so I'm happy to learn early

I plan to attend, I'll bring honing equipment.

Oh crud...right in the middle of the Old Threshers Reunion in Mt. Pleasant where I have a standing obligation. Bummer too as my Dad lives in Boone and I could make the trip dual purpose. Next time maybe.

I had thought of this before but was going to keep it to myself till Mike said he could not make it. September 5 is the start of the Labor Day weekend. I wonder if that might be a problem for many wanting to attend?

What would everyone (4 so far) think of pushing it back a week?

Of course the final decision rests with Guidry.

I will send PMs/emails to as many Iowa members that I can track down some time later this weekend but I'll hold off till I see if the date remains as is or is re-considered. Personally, I'm fine with the 5th because weekends don't exist for my job so one is the same as any other.

I did not think about it but Ron may be onto something here.
If the meet up date is moved back a week it is fine with me.
