Default I'm new and went to the flea market today searching for gold.

I've been toying around with the idea of getting into straight razor shaving for awhile but I'm still in college and don't have much money.

Well today I went to a flea market with my girlfriend and her best friend. They needed help getting a refrigerator, there's a booth where you can get "scratched and dented" appliances at a premium. Well I also had the sneaking motive of looking for straights.

I didn't find anything in the cool air conditioned sections for awhile until i came upon a guy selling Kreiger but thankfully i read enough to know those blades are junk. But outside at a more antique mom and pop booth I found a two sheffields for 20 bucks. I only had 30 bucks to spend so I went with the one that had a decent looking blade and the handle was in ok conditioned. I was torn because the other one, also a sheffield, had a more intricate design on the blade but the handle was cracked at the end clean through so two shims weren't a piece.

I was like a giddy school boy with my new find and then low and behold my g/f's friend found another antique booth w/three blades. Two more sheffields, a hollow ground and a feather weight. There was one without any brand or marking so I didn't buy it. I got those two for 5 each.

I aslo bought a shavette for 3 bucks, a Szco but the damn pin came out so i'll have to find something to takes it place before i use it. I guess they don't make them like they used to.

I'll post pics so you guys can give me advice on any are good shavers. I might even sell one to pay for honing or a strop.

I remember reading those were good brands and will post pics.

Two Wade & Butcher...I'm guessing, that's what was on the shank. The other just says FeatherWeight on the blade and Joseph something on the shank. I posted about them w/more detail and a pic. http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...tml#post224053

I'm working on individual posts about the razors.

Hate to tell you, but here in Oklahoma if you offer a little less, in your case 30 for the pair, the vendors will usually snap it up..most prices at flea markets are set to where they can "haggle"with the customer. I'd bet you could've walked away with both for the 30 if you'd asked. Anyway, you did get a good deal the way it is.
