Online Japanese Buy/Bid Service Spe Japan: http://www.k4.dion.ne.jp/~buying/ would like to anounce the launch of Japan buying service for SRP members.You are encouraged to use our online service as your reliable avenue for obtaining these goods.

How to use this service:

1) PM or email Spe Japan [spencer](star.no1@r2.dion.ne.jp) with serious requests only. Be sure to include as much information as possible regarding item link(url) from webshops in Japan found in rakuten.co.jp or other online store. Also, for Japan auction, PM us the auction item listing #.

2) An estimated maximum bid price for auction items and/or the total price quote for the requested items:
The fees:
* Price: 0000Yen
* Bank fees: 350yen
* Shipping and handling in Japan: 1,200Yen per item(regardless even though the shipping cost is free to us.(Shipping costs can vary in some cases)
*Overall cost X 15% = shipped
(price+bank fees+handling charge) X 15% = shipped

3) Payment must be made via Pay Pal before items will be purchased from websites and Deposit must be sent in before i bid items for auctions, and will be refunded if the item wasnt won, and complete after auction is won.

Photos of purchased items will be emailed to the client prior to shipping if the client so desires.

4) No money/ No goods. No items will be purchased/shipped until payment has been received.

5) Delivery times will vary depending on available inventory levels. Every effort will be made to deliver goods as quickly as possible.

I just received my order today, and was really impressed by the shipping speed. I placed the order on the 3rd, so it took 9 days to order the items, some of which were from an auction site, receive and pack everything together, then ship it from Japan to NC. That is really impressive, especially during Golden Week in Japan, when businesses pretty much shut down. I got a Japanese style Feather RG for around 50 dollars plus shipping from one of the auction sites, as opposed to the $200 price tag for the DX version on classicshaving.com. I also picked up a couple of Tosuke razors that I can't wait to hone up and try out, and a few blue rubber handles for some of my antique Japanese Straights. Most of the antiques I have either came with thick gauze wrapping on the handle, or rattan, but these are usually falling apart and have serious rust underneath, where the blue handles offer a great grip even when wet, and can be removed for cleaning. I hope this review is helpful.

Edit: The post office actually tried to deliver it yesterday, making the shipping time 8 days total.

I ordered a Tosuke Straight razor from Spe on 05/03, he said they are out of stock currently and that it will be several weeks until mine is ready.

I will report back when I have it in hand.

PS While at it, are there different types of Tosuke razors with different types of grinds etc. I have been to various sites that have them for sale but it's all a bit confusing to me with the translation, and they seem to ask different amounts for them.

Just contact the man with your request and how much you'll pay afaik.

Probably just different places charging different amounts just like our shops and sellers.

What I did.

Found a Yahoo group auction I liked the look of, checked that the seller DID NOT ship internationally. Checked the asking price.

I then sent a PM to Spencer giving a link to the auction and asking if the hammer would fall at the asking price and if so I would like him to bid on my behalf.

Spencer then sent me a spread sheet showing the costs involved in having him place a bid and organise shipping on my behalf.

The cost was acceptable and I sent the funds by Paypal.

I/Spencer won the auction. I now wait for Spencer to first recieve the goods then ship them to me.

End of story.
