Thread: Other uses for razors!

hmmm...... I have a pakistani box cutter already, a good Al Stohlman collection for leather, no black powder weapons (yet), but I do have this Satinedge I was going to send to Glen with 20 bucks to restore it. :<0) But if I see a good idea I can use...........
I bought it for a buck to grab the brass of it and experiment with the rest.

I have a Joseph Rodgers that clearly someone was using to cut asphalt shingles. There was tar all over the tip of the blade. Its a big near wedge that would have handled shingles pretty good. I cleaned it up and shes a beauty shaver now.

In my opinion, every tool has its purpose. When your not using it for its intended purpose, that's when things go bad and you get hurt. If you need a sharp utility knife, buy an Olfa. Snap the blade off and its always sharp!! A straight razor doesn't really have a handle, I cant see getting the grip or leverage on something so small.

One can always make a handle, the tang is long enough.
Pity to waste such fine steel and if its shaving days are over I think it's a good thing.
If its shaving days are not over, that's another point!

Yup Glen is the MAN ... he'll just buff that little nick right out and it will be good as new in fact it is so easy i'm guessing the $20 is for the honing

If I had the skills, I'd make table knives.

I made some steak knives for a gift once. Turned out quite nice! Best thing I made was some wind chimes! Sweet!

me too but the patch knife is cool when your a black powder shooter like myself, ( i blame nessmuck for that )
