what types of collars are those pete? they dont look like the stardard micro fasteners.

miket - i generally clean only and with a buffer. first black emory on a firm wheel and then white on a soft wheel. i like to shoot for a soft reflection, not mirror. mirror drives me a little crazy...

enjoying a long weekend so got to play in the garage for a bit yesterday. cleaned up a fredricks celebrated and made a new set of scales. looking forward to honing it up.

Yesterdays get. Two wostemholm IXL re-scales. One quarter hollow IXL rockingham works in streaked horn. And the other near wedge IXL washington works in standard black horn.

Honing both up today...

i did not. i have about 5 different horn color variations from honey to white streaked. never know quite what im going to get until i finally polish both sides. =]

thank you sir. i scan the razor and scale both, then combine to make sure everything lines up right where i want it. then just print the scale image alone - the razor.

i love horn but...

i do usually. put them on the scanner so i get as close to original as possible. ive scanned enough now though that i also have about 8-10 'template' shapes to chose from. i just resize to custom fit...

wife is away so i had some time to get into the garage and clean up some razors and make new scales last weekend.

Agree 100% rez. Thats why i tend to stay away from transparent. Razor work can get pretty dirty (check out my garage sometime) and even just a fingerprint on the inside can be trouble to erase.

picked up this 5/8 goldedge at an antique mall a few weeks ago. was pretty dirty but cleaned up extremely well. scales are in great shape. no warp. and razor has almost no wear or age.
