    You put the sleeve right through the scales, so I am guessing it stops short of the collar ever so slightly so you can still get the scales nice and snug against the blade.

    I prefer speckled and striped horn over others. There was a thread about the old method for making them black. Photo developing chemicals was the main thing used to get the deep black.

    The thought part with any corrosion on those blades is that they are so thin you cannot do much sanding. Fortunately is doesn’t look like there is much damage.
