You put the sleeve right through the scales, so I am guessing it stops short of the collar ever so slightly so you can still get the scales nice and snug against the blade.

I love the silver colour on old scales. The blade looks pretty good.

I prefer speckled and striped horn over others. There was a thread about the old method for making them black. Photo developing chemicals was the main thing used to get the deep black.

Are you converting it from inboard/outboard leg to outboards with a pod/outboard wells or is the cover on the transom temporarily there while you redo the frames?

The laws here are whacked. It’s ok to have a concealed blade in a cane or umbrella as long as the blade length is over 30 cm. I do not follow the logic in that.

When I was a youngster my grandfather had a sword ish blade that was in a cane. I’ve always wanted one. Maybe some day it will happen.

The thought part with any corrosion on those blades is that they are so thin you cannot do much sanding. Fortunately is doesn’t look like there is much damage.
