Thread: Ikea 365+ Plocka Bowl

I first read about the Ikea 365+ Plocka bowl on other forums and found a link to a German site where someone had drilled a hole in one of these double walled ceramic bowls to make a primitive scuttle. It should be noted at this point that Ikea also do a 365+ bowl without the Plocka label and these are not double walled and cannot be drilled if that's what you're planning.

I haven't gone to the trouble of drilling anything into the bowl as I have a Dirty Bird Pottery Scuttle on the way to me, so I just used this bowl as it came from Ikea with my shave today. I found it to be ideal, the bowl is just the right width, height and weight to whirl my brush around in and as I left it soaking with the brush in a sink full of hot water while I showered, the double walled ceramic retained much of the heat throughout at least two passes. It's not a lightweight bowl, however it's not that heavy either so it's easy to hold in one hand as you lather up and I feel it would be a good item to have in your luggage as a travel item. At just £1.26 it's well worth picking up the next time you're in Ikea.

The void between the two layers, is probably not water proof - water could become trapped inside, and work it's way to the outer layers. One might end up with a bowl with dark spots (wet and dry areas), which would not be all that appealing esthetically.

I'd like to be proven wrong though. Anyone actually tried it?

how much does that bowl run? If its cheap it's worth experimenting on. I find it interesting that someone would modify an ikea bowl! Too funny!
