Thread: Tragedy! Behold the birth of Redneck Scuttle v2.0!

So the other day I was shaving and somehow manage to known my glorious Redneck Scuttle

off the counter of my shave den, breaking it into exactly 57 pieces. Damn, I'm out six bucks. So, I need a new scuttle, and I'm still not going to pay 60 bucks for something I'll most likely break again in the future.

Enter the Redneck Scuttle V2.0!
costing a whopping seven dollars and ninety eight cents at Lowe's in the garden section, it is slightly narrower and taller that V1.0 resulting in a tapered conical section, which I feel gives a more efficient lather. (maybe it acts as a forcing cone?)

part 2, how does it lather?

in short, rather well.

first, a shot of the lather being made (hard at work with my 28mm silvertip redneck brush): note how the scuttle forces all the lather to the bottom, rather than letting it overflow when I start gettin' busy with the brush.

(hint: this is a preview of my redneck soap v2.7 in action. it's a delightful cinnamon clove scent, made into uber-lather with proraso menthol, for a lather than smells like fire and feels like ice!)

I voted pro for the redneck scuttle. I used to use something quite similar until I broke down and bought my beloved Moss scuttle. Whatever works.

Oh, I like it. I keep my soaps in super fancy dancy bowls--$1 bonsai pots from the Japanese dollar store.

They're PERFECT. And I think your redneck scuttle is perfect, too.

I voted to buy a scuttle. My Schwartzweisskeramik scuttle holds almost a liter of water and I think it does a much better job of keeping the lather warm. It stays so hot with just tap water that it can dry out the lather, which is actually an advantage because if I put too much water in, it evaporates rather quickly.

Besides, we can't have a poll where everyone votes the same. There's an old Jewish saying: "If we would just all get together and pull in the same direction ... the world would tip over."

How can you know that, unless you have the redneck scuttle to compare?

I think it's a great idea, if you could buy those african violet pots here, I would have one.

My redneck scuttle was cheaper. It consisted of crap I found in my basement. It's just a ramekin inside a bowl. Of course, no self respecting redneck is going to know what the heck a ramekin is, so perhaps I should call mine the enlightened redneck scuttle?

I so wanted to vote along side chimensch to be contrary but I love the ingenuity and resourcefulness!!! These qualities are becoming a rare commodity in our modern society.
